We are holding our annual Walk to Remember 2018 at Westport Lake on Sunday 20th May, 10.00am-1.00pm.
This event will coincide with Dementia Action Week, which this year runs from the 20th-27th May.
We hope that this event will raise awareness of dementia as well as valuable funds for our organisation. It also gives you the opportunity to celebrate and remember your loved ones. Whether you are joining us on the day or would just like to sponsor us, you will be helping us to raise awareness of dementia in our local community. The funds raised will help Approach maintain and develop our services for people with dementia and their carers.
Each lap of the lake is 0.8 miles and participants are welcome to walk 1 lap or up to 7 laps for any keen walkers. The walk around Westport Lake is flat and gentle, wheelchair friendly and situated in a nature reserve. There is also a lovely café at the lake offering beautiful panoramic views of the scenery along with the Oatcake Boat – ideal stops for refuelling after (or during) a brisk morning walk. Not to be forgotten is the children’s play area, making it the perfect place to visit for families, keen walkers and nature lovers alike. Westport Lake is also a favourite and a particular place of interest for many of our own service users!
The event is open to the whole family with children and pets being free to register. Talking of pets, why not bring along your dog for a morning walk, we may have some Approach Bandannas for them to wear.
Please see our Gallery for images of last years event.
After the success of our walk last year and raising over £1,200 from the event, we are hoping to raise even more funds this year to support people affected by dementia. We’d love you to get involved and help us reach our target of over 100 walkers – making this our biggest walk to date!
If you are unable to join us for the event you can still donate – please leave a donation on our Virgin Money Giving Page
If you would like to join us, please fill in the registration form below. We’d prefer it if you can register in advance to make things easier for the administration team on the day. There will, of course, be registrations accepted on the day.
