Approach to Launch Film Highlighting 1 to 1 Dementia Support Service My Day My Way
My Day My Way is our 1 to 1 dementia support service.
People affected by dementia often feel they cannot carry on with their interests & hobbies, however, we have a strong belief that they can, while continuing to live well with dementia-thanks to My Day My Way.
Our film highlights how people using the My Day My Way – 1 to 1 service have been supported to continue to do the things they love. We do this by matching people with our trained dementia care support workers who share similar interests, actively encourage and support the person to start and continue to enjoy those activities again.
The film shows three short stories of people being supported in the community to continue with their leisure activities. More information on My Day My Way, 1 to 1 dementia support can be found on our website- https://www.approachstaffordshire.co.uk/my-day-my-way/
Amanda Illidge, Head of Care Services for Approach says “We have lots of great feedback from carers of people that use our service, not only does it allow people to continue to pursue their leisure interests, it gives carers the opportunity to do the things they need to do to be in a good place to support their partners.”
The film launch took place at Oak Priory Village Hall, Abbey Hulton and was introduced by Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor, Councillor Lillian Dodd.
The launch was very well attended and the feedback was fantastic.
Thank you to everyone who attended the premiere of this film- we are very grateful for the support of those from the local community.
