Carer’s Hair-raising Activity to celebrate Dementia Action Week

Carer, Alan Joinson is raising money for Approach during Dementia Action Week 2018 by having his chest waxed at Oak Priory Extra Care Facility in Abbey Hulton.

Alan’s wife, Janet attends the Approach Oak Priory Day Opportunities group twice a week. When Alan takes Janet to the hairdressers, they often torment him about having his hair done while he’s there… despite him having very little on his head! Alan has now turned the tables on the hairdressers and asked if they would wax his upper body so he can raise money for Approach.

Alan’s wax will take place from 12pm on Wednesday 23rd May and he has already raised over £300 in donations; with a friend pledging a further £100 if the wax is filmed and shared on Facebook. Members of the public are also welcome to donate £5 per wax strip in exchange for having a go at waxing Alan’s chest.

If you would like to sponsor Alan’s very brave action and support Approach during Dementia Action Week, we have set up a Virgin Money Giving page  so that you can make a donation to Alan’s charity chest wax. #DAW2018

We would like to send our thanks to Alan for being a great sport and taking part in this event. Good Luck, Alan!!
