This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading Staffordshire charities supporting people affected by dementia. Approach specialises in the care of older people with dementia by providing a range of services such as: high quality day groups, one to one personalised support, Approach Carers Cafés and training and awareness sessions. We are also commissioned by the CCG to provide advice to anyone affected by dementia in North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. The aim of Approach is to provide positive support to enable people in our community to remain independent and live well with dementia. Approach has been established since 1981 and has been providing support services for over 36 years.
We currently have over 60 paid staff and more than 40 volunteers who work in our various support services, and we have a turnover in the region of £1,000,000. We support over 600 people each year to live well with dementia by providing quality services and advice, promoting positive wellbeing for both the individual and their carers. We believe that everyone affected by dementia should be supported to live their life the way they choose.
Our current Chief Executive Officer is retiring in the Autumn after over 10 years of service and we are seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer to take the organisation forward during the coming years. The successful candidate should have strong strategic leadership skills and the ability to build upon the partnerships already established and form new partnerships with voluntary, statutory and commercial organisations. The Chief Executive Officer will lead a team of managers, experienced staff and volunteers and make an innovative contribution to developing the charity as it moves forward in changing times. The Chief Executive Officer will have experience of securing funding and the ability to maximise income from a wide range of sources.
The salary for this position is £44,970 per annum for 37 hours per week, the Board of Directors would be happy to consider more flexible arrangements. Usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm with occasional weekend and evening cover required. It is essential that the post holder is a car driver and has the use of a car for the duration of their employment. An allowance of 0.42p per mile is paid.
Annual leave entitlement is 35 days pro rata, including bank holidays. Approach operates a contributory pension scheme. Approach is an equal Opportunities Employer.
